OBSESSION WITH SHOES 11-12-07

It's all about the shoes. I'll admit I have a slight obsession with shoes; a borderline addiction to buying them, and a compulsive habit of checking out other people's.

I own copious pairs in a rainbow of colours and fabrics. And I love them all.

If I'm feeling down I buy shoes. I take better care of them than I did my goldfish, and I often plan outfits around them.

Gorgeous shoes are not affected by 'fat' days, they are no less pretty just because your hair isn't behaving, and they rarely let you down in the style stakes.

If the clothes make the man, then the shoes make the woman.

Heels are wonderfully feminine, they are curved and arched and they balance out a woman's proportions (whatever her size and shape)

When women wear heels, or indeed knee high boots, they inevitably draw attention to their legs, but they also elongate them and give them definition. So why not show them off?

Good shoes, particularly heels, make you walk taller and give you better posture.

A really good pair of shoes demand attention. Beyond making the most of a woman's figure, they draw attention to your clothes and change the purpose of an outfit.

And it's not all about looks. Shoes are a great outlet for creativity and personality.

Your shoes can be playful, pretty or full on va va voom, they can make you a lady, or transform you into a siren.

Ultimately its how your shoes make you feel.

All women are capable of sex-goddess status and heels are the easiest route.

It's that quote in 'Some Like It Hot', where Marilyn Monroe wiggles her way off a train in a pencil skirt and towering heels moving "like jello on springs". Fabulous.
