HAPPINESS IS A THEORY PASS CERTIFICATE
26-7-07

This morning, having revised until too late, and then slept badly because of it, I was not feeling full of confidence about my theory test. But I'm an optimist at heart, so I did yet more revision-mostly on Toucan and Puffin crossings which frankly still baffle me, but which, thankfully did not come up-and set off for my test.

And…I passed! Was there ever any doubt?

Well yes actually, and most of it came from me!

I tend to get very nervous before any kind of test-it is not the test itself; it is the waiting which unnerves me. So imagine my joy at being the one there wasn't a seat for, despite being early.

This was no-ones fault, there are many candidates taking the test at once and you simply leave when you have finished.

However the waiting made me anxious. Finally a girl came out, her name was Rebecca, and she had passed.

Suddenly I was hopeful of a similar outcome. It may sound nuts, but I figured maybe the fact that I would be sitting in her seat and am also legally named Rebecca (Elise is my middle name, which usually gets shortened to Elle) might help me. Perhaps that test space was lucky for Rebeccas!

For the record I scraped by in the Hazard Perception test, but passed the multiple choice section quite comfortably.

Three things make me instantly happy: sunshine, people I love and any kind of personal achievement.

Walking on air, I confidently strode down the street smiling at everyone (they probably thought I was crazy, or foreign, it is simply not British to smile at random strangers!) and even bought a charity lottery ticket.

Having started to text my entire phonebook, I calmed down slightly and only shared the good news with family and some friends.

I walked the short distance home, changed my MySpace mood to 'jubilant' and settled down to share my success with you lovely readers.

It is raining again, but I'm still happy and feel the need to celebrate, Perfect excuse for a night out I think!
