Oh dear! Today I did not have a good lesson. Whether it was the torrential rain, my lack of sleep or I was just having a bimbo day- hey it happens, I did not drive well.
In all honesty the rain and mild insomnia didn't really affect me, driving-wise it just was not my day.
There were some bright spots, at times John told me I was 'driving properly now' but sadly they were short lived. I remembered most things so I would have been fine if it wasn't for my clutch control, or lack of the same.
Today I drove mainly round Eston, popular test routes where, in the hopefully not too distant future, I will have to go it alone and take my test. If that day was today I would have failed, miserably.
Everything you can do wrong while driving, I did it today. I stalled, I drifted into the wrong lane and I kept forgetting to use the clutch!
On the plus side, I did manage to perform two 3-point turns. My execution may not have been brilliant, but considering this was my first experience of manoeuvres I think I did pretty well.
To punish me for 'nearly giving him a heart-attack', John decided to make me do something else I've never attempted before, hill-starts. Now obviously if you keep forgetting to use the clutch properly, a hill-start is not a good idea. Oh yes and it helps if you put the handbrake ALL THE WAY ON. I learnt that the hard way.
John has another lesson now and then he is going home to 'lie down in a darkened room'. Sorry John. And me? Well, I'm going bowling. Life goes on and I'll be better on Tuesday.
