TFM CASH FOR KIDS CHARITY MATCH AT THE RIVERSIDE 28-5-09

Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium was the setting for an eight goal thriller last week as the TFM All Stars, including former Boro players Craig Hignett and Curtis Flemming, a plethora of TFM presenters and The Apprentice's Rocky Andrews took on the Hillstreet Heroes.

The Hillstreet Heroes were a selection of local lads who had to raise £1,000 in order to play for the team. Managed by Boro legends Jim Platt and Terry Cochrane, the Hillstreet Heroes managed to pull the score back to 3-2 in the early stages of the second half, but were soundly beaten 6-2 by the celebrities.

Rocky Andrews, a one-time Boro academy player and more recently of 'The Apprentice' fame was in high spirits as he came off the pitch but despite his recent television appearances he did not seem too familiar with the concept of an interview...

EB: You look like you enjoyed that?

RA: Yeah, it was a good game, I did enjoy it...I'm not sure, what do you want me to say?

EB: How about 'It was great to be back at the Riverside playing in front of the fans'?

RA: Okay, it was great to be back at the Riverside playing in front of the fans! (laughs) Anything else?

EB: No, thats fine, I like you, you are very pliable!

RA: Yes, that I am. Bye!

Rocky skipped off before I could snap a quick picture of him but I did manage to find Curtis Flemming.

EB:
You have been involved in quite a few charity matches now, nice to be on the winning side?

CF: It was good fun, a great event. it is not all about winning, its a great cause and good craic...but yes it was good to win!

EB: It was a comfortable win for the All stars in the end but was there anyone who particularly impressed you?

CF: I thought all of the goalkeepers did really well. I think you can tell that they all play a bit, Antony Hutton was good but they all have their own various teams which is great for us because we put together a really good team.

EB: And it was good to see the other team, students etc raising money to play?

CF: Yes, it is important that we do things like this in our area. The support has been really great for the Cash For Kids events and it's great to come here and play in the community it is great motivation for us.

Boro Futsal player and student Nick Hamblin scored one and created one but came away on the losing side, he said:

"Well, once you've scored at the Riverside, things change for you!

"Seriously though it was great to get a goal and the pitch was amazing, but my feet are killing me!

"Jim Platt is a true legend and Terry Cochrane really knew what he was doing as well. It was a great day."

Nick works at TFM but wanted to be part of the local team in order to raise money for Cash For Kids.
