It is not long now until the 2009-10 Premier League season gets underway and the lovely people at Paddy Power have created a special range of markets looking ahead to the new season.
Here at ComeOnSpurs.com we know you like to have a little dibble as you contemplate the reuniting of Crouch and Defoe up front and so do we so let's see what the Irish firm are offering.
Top of the list is the bet that three or more Spurs players will be included in England's World Cup 2010 squad, odds on at 2/7. With the renewal of the Crouch/Defoe partnership at club level and a choice of David Bentley, Jermain Jenas, Aaron Lennon, Darren Bent and Jonathan Woodgate all capped previously this would seem a bit of a no brainer. In addition, Fabio Capello is an obvious admirer of Ledley King but 'Arry Redknapp has made his feelings on the subject perfectly clear.
Speaking of King, he's currently injured but he did manage twenty-four games in a Spurs shirt last season so 'At least 19 games at 1/6' seems like a good bet.
Redknapp is 1/5 to remain manager till the end of the season. Then again having brought prodical sons Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe back to White Hart Lane, Harry may decide his work here is done. But we feel it is unlikely.
Paddy Power are also offering Wilson Palacios to pick up more than ten yellow cards this season at 4/6. The Honduran international notched up twelve last season and is generously described as 'combative' in his official player profile.
At the other end of the pitch, our favourite bookies are offering 7/4 for Jermaine Jenas to score more than six league goals. The midfielder only managed four last season but seven or eight is his usual haul.
Spurs to win five away games is priced at 4/6. Spurs traditionally have a poor away record and have only managed to win four away games once in the last four years. If you don't fancy that, Spurs are 2/1 to concede less than fourteen goals at home - 2/1.
Spurs to remain unbeaten against Arsenal in the league is priced at 5/2. Spurs drew both league fixtures against the Gunners last year but we feel that replicating or bettering that is by no means beyond the current Spurs side.
Finally, Spurs are 150/1 to win the FA and Carling Cups. Obviously this is slightly less likely than 'Arry's missus scoring a goal at the Lane but more likely than King playing every match or Palacios winning an award for sporting behaviour!
